Another major report stating that the UK is going through an energy revolution. It is clear that the transformation of our electricity supply is happening considerably quicker than predicted even one year ago. National Grid have revised up their predictions for the deployment of solar, electric vehicles and energy storage technologies. The rapid decrease in the costs of batteries has changed their value proposition greatly.

It is not all good news however as it looks increasingly like the UK will not hit the 15% renewable energy target before 2020 with 2022 looking a more likely time frame. This is even more reason to to get energy policies right, to gain confidence and to attract the investment which is needed to drive renewable projects forward to get as close as we can to hitting our renewable targets.
