An interesting one this for me. Whilst I'm never one to denigrate any innovation in clean energy I wonder if this might just seem gimmicky? On the upside, as long as it works, it brings solar PV much more into the visibility and therefore mindset of the public. That has to be a good thing. I can't help thinking though that we should be focusing on the enormous amount of commercial rooftops we are yet to cover with PV. With existing technology, easy to install, no shading issues, and no trucks, cars or crashes to deal with! I'm quite sure the cost and ROI would be significantly better too!
On 26 July French energy minister Ségolène Royal inaugurated a manufacturing unit for the Wattway photovoltaic panels in Tourouvre, Orne. Wattway is a French innovation and is the result of 5 years of research undertaken by Colas, a transport infrastructure company, and the French National Institute for Solar Energy (INES).
