A somewhat negative slant on this story as you would expect from the Telegraph. But it does show we need to better educate everyone, journalists in particular, about just what can be achieved with battery storage, and what the pro's and cons of renewable and traditional generation assets are, and the various forms of energy storage. Let's not forget we face formidable Spin machines funded by the dying fossil fuel industry. We need to get consumers to think about energy beyond 'flick the switch and the light comes on'
A Government spokesman said: “The fact that battery storage has now developed to the stage where companies feel that they can meet the requirements of a capacity market contract shows how far this technology has come and its huge potential in the UK. “Any companies that enter the capacity market must be able to provide their agreed electricity output whenever called upon, or face financial penalties.”
